In our recent webinar, E. Tyler Ardron, CFM, from the Risk Reduction Plus Group, shared strategies for creating impactful education initiatives that benefit both communities and homeowners.
Tyler explained that well-planned outreach programs do more than just educate residents about flood risks—they also help communities earn points in the Community Rating System (CRS). Under CRS Section 330, cities and towns can get credit for public outreach and flood response initiatives. By hosting workshops, sharing educational materials, and using digital platforms, municipalities can improve their CRS score, which can lead to lower flood insurance premiums. Furthermore, these efforts help create a well-informed public, better prepared to face flood-related challenges.
