Find answers to frequently asked questions about getting started with Forerunner, accessing your account, and getting support.

    Contact the Forerunner administrator on your team to create an account. If you're not sure who that is, email us at [support@withforerunner.com](mailto:support@withforerunner.com) and we'll help you find the right person.

  <Accordion title="What should I do if I forgot my password?">
    Go to [app.withforerunner.com](https://app.withforerunner.com) and select **Forgot your password?** below the password field. Enter your email address and we'll send you instructions to reset your password.

    If you want to change your password while signed in, you can do so in the **Settings** section of your dashboard.

  <Accordion title="How do I access Forerunner from my computer?">
    Forerunner is a cloud-based application, so there's nothing to download. Open a supported browser, go to [app.withforerunner.com](https://app.withforerunner.com), and sign in with your email and password. We recommend bookmarking this URL for quick access.

  <Accordion title="Which browsers does Forerunner support?">
    The Forerunner web app supports the following browsers:

    * Google Chrome (version 84+)
    * Firefox (version 63+)
    * Safari (version 14.1+)
    * Microsoft Edge (version 84+)

      Internet Explorer 11 is no longer supported for security reasons.

  <Accordion title="Which mobile devices does Forerunner support?">
    The Forerunner field app is available for download from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Supported operating systems:

    * iOS (version 16+)
    * Android (version 14+)

  <Accordion title="Can I upload more than 10 Elevation Certificates at once?">
    Yes. Email us at [support@withforerunner.com](mailto:support@withforerunner.com) and we can send you a custom upload link for bulk uploads.

  <Accordion title="How can I reduce the file size of an Elevation Certificate?">
    Large files can slow down uploads and processing. FEMA recommends keeping attached images under 300KB. To reduce file size:

    * **Resize images before attaching** (recommended)—reduce image dimensions and save as JPEG. This preserves digital signatures.
    * **Re-export as PDF**—use "Print to PDF" (PC) or "Export with Reduce File Size" (Mac). Note: this may remove digital signatures.
    * **Use online compression tools**—services like Adobe Compress PDF can help, though results vary and encrypted PDFs may not be supported.

  <Accordion title="Why didn't I receive my data export?">
    When you submit a data export request, the file is packaged and emailed to you. If you don't receive it:

    1. Check the email inbox associated with your Forerunner account
    2. Look in your spam or junk folder
    3. Wait a few hours—depending on your email settings, delivery may be delayed

  <Accordion title="Why am I seeing a 'The connection for this site is not secure' error?">
    This error (often displayed as `ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR`) occurs when your browser can't establish a secure connection with the Forerunner server. This is typically caused by network security settings rather than an issue with Forerunner itself.

    **To troubleshoot:**

    1. **Try a different network**: If you can, disconnect from your VPN or agency network and connect via public internet. If the error goes away, the issue is likely with your network configuration.
    2. **Check if the issue is device-specific**: If the site works on one device but not another, the devices may have different security settings configured by IT.
    3. **Contact your IT department**: Ask if they have TLS inspection or SSL interception enabled on outbound connections. These security measures can sometimes interfere with Forerunner's SSL certificates and may need to be configured to allow Forerunner domains.
